Everyday in Minnesota, the struggle with HIV/AIDS is a real-life drama for thousands. The final scene is, so far, unpredictable. But while we wait for a happy ending, Because We Care (BWC) Minnesota Performing Arts Alliance Responding To AIDS is working behind the scenes, setting the stage for the care and comfort of people living with HIV/AIDS.
Because We Care Minnesota Performing Arts Alliance Responding To AIDS was founded in 1995 as a nonprofit organization by and for people living with HIV/AIDS. From inception, our purpose has been to mobilize the abilities of the performing arts community to support direct service through events and increase public awareness of HIV/AIDS.
BWC started as a small group of concerned individuals willing to offer support for those affected by HIV and AIDS. Today we are becoming a comprehensive all-volunteer funding organization by and for people living with HIV/AIDS that diligently and professionally meets many of the community's growing needs. BWC funding has provided direct support for counseling, food programs, and financial aid programs for men, women and children throughout Minnesota, helping many service providers meet the needs of their clients.
BWC has become a reality through the leadership and support of an incredibly dedicated and diverse community. The degree of energy and love that pours into our efforts has been truly a gift of the highest caliber.
The growth of BWC—like the battle it wages—has not been easy. Yet we survive and need to thrive until our work is done. We have always felt there is a community willing to support us and share the suffering we all have endured with the AIDS crisis. Let us receive solace in knowing that we can make an impact when we all join together in the fight against HIV and AIDS.
Thank you for your support.

Because We Care Director
BWC will—with the help of individual and corporate donors—raise and distribute critically needed funds to organizations in Minnesota that support food, shelter and emergency funds programs for men, women, and children with HIV/AIDS.
BWC is a positive force in the lives of those who are infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, using its voice and sphere of influence to speak up and take action.
BWC will support those who take responsibility for them and others by making educated, informed choices and living a healthy lifestyle.
BWC will advocate for action, understanding that prevention is as important as cure.
BWC will be a catalyst for change in regard to reversing the negative social perception of HIV/AIDS. Not just a gay disease, AIDS affects us all.
BWC will help others light the light of compassion as we continue to fight the good fight against HIV/AIDS.
BWC will recognize that men, women, children, young, old, people of all colors and nationalities must work together as partners to solve what is now a global pandemic with devastating consequences for all.

Because We Care (BWC) Minnesota Performing Arts Alliance Responding to AIDS is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization. Founded in 1995 by People Living with HIV/AIDS, BWC is a memorial to the many friends lost to us through AIDS.
Then as now, the general lack of attention given to HIV/AIDS, and its potential health risk not only to men, but also to women and children as well, are our primary concerns. A board of directors manages BWC operations. We focus on generating resources and coordinating activities to create awareness of and combat HIV/AIDS. A portion of our resources directly funds the care of people living with HIV/AIDS in Minnesota.
By mobilizing the unique abilities of the entertainment industry, BWC is able to raise funds to mitigate the suffering of persons with HIV/AIDS. Through music, dance, and other forms of entertainment, we are able to inform, educate and erase the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS. Thank you for your support.
